Reconnecting People to Nature with Rebecca Douglas
Have you wondered how powerful imagery can be used to make change happen? Take a look at this image below, and what does it make you feel?
To Rebecca, it signified the destruction that we impose on the planet, and how the wildlife are suffering and that click of the camera placed her 2nd in Conservation (Impact) category for Ocean Photographer of the Year 2024.
Rebecca Douglas is a visual storyteller who connects change-makers and conscious brands with nature through photography, speaking, and writing. And images like the one above are the ones that tell a story. Her ultimate aim is to tell the story of our changing climate, to compel us to do something about it.
For me, what makes her story particularly compelling is her discovering she has ADHD and autism, and how that has shaped her business and approach to leadership in climate action. Ultimately to be as authentic to herself and her craft as she can be.
Through many trials and tribulations, Rebecca learned to see her neurodiversity as a unique strength rather than a limitation. Between this and recognising her approach was different to traditional male dominated areas of work she has ultimately re-created a leadership and creative style that is authentically her own.
